About the Grant
The Department for Education is offering eligible state-funded primary schools and maintained nursery schools the opportunity to receive up to £150,000 in capital funding to create or expand school-based nursery provision. This second phase of the programme focuses on helping schools grow, support local families, and strengthen early years education.
The grant is part of the Department for Education’s commitment to expanding access to quality early education, especially for families who need it most.

Eligibility Requirements
- Support from your local authority using the official approval form
- Consent from your landlord or landowner, where applicable
- Project meets all criteria outlined in the official guidance
- Schools funded in Phase 1 may take part in Phase 3
How to Apply
Applications open on 24 September 2025 and close at 5pm on 11 December 2025. Preparing early will help ensure your application is complete and ready to submit on time.
